A close-up of a black duck with a shiny green-blue head and yellow bill, standing on grassy ground with fallen leaves, with a blurred white duck in the background and trees with autumn foliage.

The 19 members of the Sweet Farm Duck Gang come from a variety of different backgrounds. Like chickens, ducks are often raised in backyards by families. When those families move or lose interest, they end up at shelters or worse, released at local ponds where they cannot survive and will either starve or fall victim to predators. Ducks are a 10-15-year commitment, require a lot of care, and are surprisingly messy. Domesticated ducks cannot survive in the wild and should never be released. Luckily all our duck friends were rescued before suffering the same fate as millions of their friends.
